I'd like the program to be generic enough to work on all machines, with all types of drives, and not be affected by whether or not the machine has an HSC - all of this in order to make calls to $GETDVI for space and other related information. For example, on a uVAX, there might be DUA0: and DUA1: while on a cluster, there might be HSC1$DUA1:, DJA0:, and DBA4:. Perhaps if I knew how SHOW DEVICE D determined the disks, I'd understand a way to do this - For now, I'm in the dark... Much thanks to those who reply.
