   You're asking for tutorial info.  I can't really help you there, Rusty
Haddock's suggestion of the Byte article is probably a good one for that.
But, since you need to become an expert, and because you're a hardware type,
it may be most useful to go straight to the source:

	American National Standards Institute
	1430 Broadway
	New York, NY  10018

	Ask for the SCSI ANSI X3.131-1986 spec.  Cost is $20.
