We have been looking at NFS as a UNIX/VMS server solution for PCs. From the begining of the investigation we were looking for things like the 'huge security holes'. Somehow I must have missed it. I certainly have heard Netters alluding to such a thing. Would you be willing to spell out the problem, perhaps even complete with recommended solutions or workarounds? I may just be a hopeless case. I had never considered using an IP gateway for security purposes either. When I read you message a tiny light went on in my head for just a second... then I started thinking about name/domain serving, additional levels of indirection, and so forth and the light went out. Do you encrypt your secure side? Stephen Northcutt (snorthc@nswc-g.arpa) (703) 663-7796 office, (703) 663-7191 lab
