Does anybody know if there exists a program to map any variable names that are
larger than 8 characters into 8 characters?  Maybe somthing that can be used to
filter programs that have large identifiers so that a 'old style' C compiler
can digest the program.  I would appreciate any help along these lines, and I
would rather not have to write one myself.
