I know, I know, a band-aid fix to a not-so-trivial problem, but still. A lot
of the problems could be fixed with some good macros and a small amount of
code. The other thing is that this must have been done hundreds of times before
for various proprietary efforts. There are a number of packages out there that
run just fine in a wide variety of environments. How about someone doing this
sort of thing posting their "porting package"?
