A group of us have an A1000, are planning on getting an A2000, and may even possibly also get an A500. Which LAN would you suggest we use so we could "share resources"? The reason I ask is that I have not seen any advertisements for LANS in the amiga journals. The primary need would be for file sharing. Optimally, setting up the 2000 with a massive hard disk for use as a server, and having the 1000 and 500 as "diskless" (well they'd have their floppy, but you know what I mean) would be really nice and cost effective. But I have not seen any software/hardware that could do this. Of course, we could get that Ethernet board ($500 ?) that has been mentioned on the net, and hook the amigas up to our Unix box. But that is really not a very attractive idea because the unix box has very little disk space, and the boards are just too expensive. What would be nice would be some sort of serial-port lan, such as are advertised for the IBM PC and such. These connect all serial ports in a ring, and have software to route files and such from the server through each machine until it gets to the requesting machine. Is anything like this available? Summary: We want info on a cheap LAN, or in fact any LAN for amigas. Thanks in advance for any information. -- Dan Green -- ARPA: hsgj@tcgould.tn.cornell.edu UUCP: ihnp4!cornell!batcomputer!hsgj BITNET: hsgj@cornella
