Subj: Request for UPS Recommendations We are seeking recommendations from APOLLO sites that have used (or are currently using) uninterruptable power supplies (UPS) for APOLLO equipment. Our goal is to reduce crashes/reboots attributed to AC-line transients. 1) Does the method of calculation given in "Planning and Preparing a DOMAIN System Site" (pp. 3-2 to 3-3) provide an adequate guide to specifying UPS power ratings ? [I include a table summarizing these calculations for various combinations of equipment we are concerned with at the end of this message] 2) What maximum switching time should be specified? 3) Specific model recommendations or warnings?
