I asked the boz, uh, guy there to show me the actual chip.... Damn. It was in a //c and he just couldn't open it up. This meant that switching the 65C02 from the IIe to the //c just to prove that it was really the chip going so fast was impossible. I told him I doubted the "drop in" compatibility unless he could show me. He told me to doubt away. I did and still do.
