It worked sporadically, and I thought it was a piece of junk. Sometimes it would format a disk, sometimes not. Sometimes it couldn't read its own writing! It was a foot below the bottom of the TV, so I didn't think about magnetic effects. But when I moved the drive to a shelf over the 800 (with my original drive), it worked like a charm and has for about 2-3 years. On the shelf it was about two feet from the TV.
