In a word 'Swap tracks'. For virtual memory and/or multi-tasking systems that allow swapping you have to put the process and/or page somewhere when it is not in memory. Your disk is partitioned into two sections the first of which is the swap area, the second of which is the storage area. You can use 'iv' if you want more information about your hard disk configuration. It's documented in Vol I of the Users guide. David Albrecht
