I tried downloading the latest vi source from a local vax and recompiling, but that didn't seem to fix it. From other net postings, I have gleaned that the problem is probably in the terminal library (termcap or termlib, I forget which). The problem hasn't driven me crazy enough to dig out a solution, but if anyone knows an easy one, we're probably not the only ones who would appreciate learning of it. Bob Lied ihnp4!ihuxy!lied
