I am in the process of learning COBOL and it would make the process alot easier if I could run COBOL at home. Failing being able to find an inexpensive one, could anyone recommend any COBOL for the IBM PC? (I might convince my money man that COBOL has an engineering application ;-) /* End of text from inmet:comp.sys.ibm.pc */ Well, I can recommend Microsoft COBOL as being about as good as COBOL gets. I've written a couple of meg of code in the thing (not hard...), and it is pretty pleasant to work with. It is also marvelous for file-based ISAM applications, although I don't know about number-crunching speed. *However*, it is awfully expensive ($600 the last I checked, and that was a while ago). If you really want this to be done in COBOL, though, go for it. -- Justin du Coeur
