Lines: 35 Hello All, Finally my funds are such that buying a Mac no longer seems like an impossible dream (starving college student here). However, I want to make sure that this investment will last a long time. Currently I am thinking of buying a Macintosh Plus, but I'm not sure whether it will be obsolete real soon. Rutgers Prices are: Mac Plus $1149 Mac SE 1606 Mac SE 20MB HD 2070 As my main applications will be word processing and communications with larger computers, I really don't care about the little speed advantage the SE has to offer. (In fact, someone told me the SE will be obsolete real soon, too. If so, I might as well wait till I get $3500 and get a Mac II) Can any gurus enlighten me as to what other advantages the SE has over the Plus, besides the extra disk drive, the expansion slot, and the bigger ROM? I'm interested in less tangible things, such as software compatibility: Will there be future software that will run on the SE but not the Plus? What's in the SE ROM that's not in the Plus? As a programmer, will you be able to do more tricks with the SE than the Plus? etc... Also, does anybody have recommendations for a 2400 baud external modem that's realtively cheap? Thanks in advance. -Rob
