This is my first posting to comp.sys.mac.  Please forgive me if this is a
reposting of a discussion four months ago.  I have only been reading 
comp.sys.mac for two months.  Some of the info in this article may be 
erroneous or even completely false.  It is correct to the best of my 
knowledge.

I worked for a medium sized (20 people) computer store this summer.  Due to 
the bad Oklahoma economy and other excuses, we were not able to evaluate many 
of the new products this year as we could in previous years.

I am interested in a laser printer for personal use that came out this summer.  
It is made by General Computer Corp (makers of Hyperdrive and several classic 
video games).  Since I am working on my M.S. and my roommate is working on his 
Ph.D, we think we could (collectively) justify the cost of a $2600 (list price) 
laser printer.

From the small article I read in one of our trade journals, the Personal Laser
Printer (PLP) uses Quickdraw rather than Postscript and has many (or most) of
the Laserwriter Plus fonts.  

Two questions:

1) Is it worth a damn?

2) How much are they selling for across the country.  I hope I can pick one up 
   for approx. $1800 - $1900.

A little background:  I currently own a Mac SE with 20 mb hard disk running
System 4.1 and Finder 5.5.  I have an Imagewriter II and an Apple 300/1200
baud modem.
