Science Center Lines: 16 Thanks to all who replied to my request for help printing Mac files on a UNIX LaserWriter. I got a variety of explanations why it does not work just to send LaserPrep followed by the Mac PostScript file. First, the smoothing algorithm supposedly messes things up. Second, the Mac sometimes generates 8-bit characters, which is a no-no in PostScript. Third, LaserPrep stays resident in the LaserWriter, thereby messing things up for UNIX. Armed with this knowledge, I tried to hack LaserPrep. Nothing worked. However, Brian Powell's hacked LaserPrep works beautifully. It can be obtained via anonymous ftp of the file ~ftp/mac/paintps-update-4.0.shar from sally.utexas.edu. I still don't know exactly what was wrong, but I'm having no trouble printing! Gratefully yours, Sebastian
