BinHex 4.0 is just the earlier version of BinHex 5.0.  Both are Mac programs;
version 5.0 accepts input from 4.0-ed files, but I don't think it works the
other way around.

For use on the net, version 4.0 is most common right now, but that probably
will change as 5.0 gets spread around more.
