Summary: "old format" and "file system error -50" errors



  I've come across copies of the BMUG Hypercard stacks, and a bunch of them
will not open, either because they're "old format" or "file system error -50".
Have other people had problems like this, and if so, are there solutions?
Is it a matter of changing a few resources, or are things really buggered up
good?  Has anyone written an "update" stack? :-).  Thanks.
