Recently we purchased a number of 1186s for our lab.  Hardware maintenance on
these costs about $2000.00/year/machine.  Since  this adds up to a hefty chunk
of money, and since we keep hearing words to the effect that the 1186s are
'very reliable' machines, we are thinking of foregoing the maintenance 
contract and gpaying for service as and when the need arises.

i would like to ask for your opinions/experience in this regard.  Also,  can
someone  gve me information regarding reliability of the 1186s, or point
me towards sources?
