We are slowly convincing management that we wish to move into the Unix world. Costs for MVIIs being what they are, we cannot afford one at this time. Ultrix-11, or for that matter any decent Unix variant, may be what we need right now. We would like to know the following: 1> The last software description of Ultrix-11 we have says it is a Version 7 descendent. Fact or fiction, and how does this effect later migration to Ultrix-32. 2> Following up to 1, what problems have been encountered moving to other Unixs? 3> How good (or bad) is system performance? We are an RSX shop, so if you could relate the two it would be nice. 4> We assume that a C compiler is included in the package. True/false? What else is supplied/available? F77? 5> Is the Ultrix DECnet product available on these machines? 6> Cost. 7> Prospects for future support. We don't want something that will fade away in the near future. Any help is greatly appreciated. Richard Neitzel Rockwell International Box 464 M/S T881A Golden, CO 80402 303-966-7203 rneitzel@udenva
