A 16-bit version of compress and a compressed TAR archive of an SCO-ized
version of news 2.11, patchlevel 8, can be uucp'ed from spdcc:

uucp spdcc!~uucp/compress compress
uucp spdcc!~uucp/sconews.tar.Z sconews.tar.Z

Here is spdcc's L.sys boilerplate:
