Is there any nice  'X' program to design colormaps interactively?

It would be nice if we could specify  the entries of the lookup 
tables with a list of equations, and also by picking up colors
from a palette  displayed on the screen,...

We are running on color  Sun3s with rgb lookup table of 256 entries
