Message-ID: <775@hsi.UUCP> Date: Mon, 23-Nov-87 11:48:35 EST Article-I.D.: hsi.775 Posted: Mon Nov 23 11:48:35 1987 Date-Received: Thu, 26-Nov-87 07:22:46 EST Organization: Health Systems Intl., New Haven, CT Lines: 19 A week ago I got mail from the news system saying that there were "Problems with your active file" and there were a list of about 50 newsgroups that it said were invalid and should be removed. These were comp.ai.edu, comp.ai.vision, comp.editors, comp.lang.asm370, ... I went ahead and executed the command it suggested to delete the groups and all was fine. Then 4 days later I get mail saying that all of these groups were missing from the active file and should be added, so I went ahead and added them. Can anyone shed any light as to what's going on ?? Thanks. (What prompts these mail messages to be sent - is a specific news message received that causes the active file to be checked ?? If so, how often does this occur ??)
