I enjoy the freedoms listed above (as well as others not stated).  So what.
When and if there is a DIRECT, PRESENT, SERIOUS *THREAT* to those freedoms,
there will be no shortage of people signing up to defend them.

Until that time, why should I devote a few years to sitting around an army
base, picking my nose, so some general can get another star, and some gov't
contractor can get rich developing useless, non-functional weapon systems?
