Yes.  Had smoking not been a killer for centuries, and then surprise
surprise surprise a mutant strain took over and make tobacco cancerous
before anyone knew what had happened, then I would call smokers victims.

There was a case reported in Saturday Evening Post a few years ago of a
19-year old high school athlete-hero who died of cancer of the mouth from
chewing tobacco.  The photos were mighty grisly.  I was absolutely horri-
fied--he was nineteen years old dammit--and I certainly considered the
guy a "victim" at the time.
