Summary: an AST Premium/286?

I am considering the purchase of an AT clone, and would like to be
able to run Minix on my new computer.  I was wondering if some kind
soul could send me a list of systems that Minix is known to run on.

I am currently leaning to an AST Premium/286, so this is the
information I am most interested in.  I have checked the archive
on bugs.nosc.mil, but the only article that was there on this
issue didn't include the AST.

If someone who is currently running Minix on the AST would send me
comments/problems they've had, I'd be grateful.
