As I recall, the initial version of tcsh used ESC for command/filename
expansion.  Newer version of tcsh (with enhancement by Ohio State
University people) uses TAB for command/filename expansion.  This
newer version, when I used it in last September, included some additional
features such as 'emacs' command line editing features, and other goodies
similar to TOPS-20 and ksh.
