Now that I have a home computer, 3B1, I'd like to do the same thing over the phone line, perhaps using uucp, perhaps not. Note that I do not run TCP/IP over the phone. So: does anybody have a public-domain version of rdist that works over phone lines, or even by electronic mail (uucp) when the machines are several hops apart? The biggest difference I would see would be that this mail-rdist program would have to be a lot more conservative about what files it updates, since there could be a big lag between time at which the first inconsistency was detected, and time at which the output arrived (and locking over extended periods of time would be impractical). phone-rdist probably would not have this problem. Please mail; I'll summarize to net if desired. Andy "Krazy" Glew. Gould CSD-Urbana. 1101 E.
