ZOO source is available on just about every large download BBS.  I've got
the SYSV source on my BBS (number's in the .signature), which I believe is
the latest UNIX version (1.70).  There's also a large (400+ message)
dedicated discussion there about file archivers with Rahul Dhesi (ZOO),
Thom Henderson (ARC), Phil Katz (PKARC) and Dean Cooper (DWC), although
it's pretty much dormant now.
