Message-ID: <1088@pbhyd.UUCP> Date: 28 Dec 87 22:07:34 GMT Distribution: na Organization: Pacific Bell, San Ramon, Calif. Lines: 23 Keywords: UNIX, HARD DISK (1) UNIX SHELL: I'm a relatively new A500 owner and am used to large main frame systems. Could someone tell me if it's possible to get UNIX (shell, awk, etc.) on an A500? I often see articles about "C" but little is mentioned about UNIX shell. What would it take to get UNIX going and how much of it can I get? How much memory/disk space would be required. (2) TERMINAL EMULATION: I've seen several articles about "vt100" terminal emulation on the A500. Are other terminal types possible? (3) HARD DISKS: Can anyone supply information about a hard disk for the A500 which costs about the same as hard disks for other systems. I've seen 20MB disks for between $500 and $600 for Atari systems but the same thing for an Amiga seems to run over $800. Am I looking in the wrong places or are they really that much more? (4) SUBJECT LINES: This news group gets LOTS articles each day. And I spend lots of time sifting through articles (looking at "Subject:" lines with the "=" command). It would be very helpful if submitters would write subject lines which are meaningful and which give a good idea of what the article concerns. Subject lines with nothing more than "HELP", "QUESTIONS" or "PROBLEMS" are not much help. Thanks, Kevin Keith
