No sweat getting kermit 3.80 up and running and so far seems just fine. Although I don't think multics understands the VT100 cursor control keys (and since I've never used one I don't either) the rest of the emulation, i.e., output, works just fine under emacs and the similar mini-emacs used on command line entry. Haven't tried a file-transfer yet, but I'm sure that will be OK.
