From your message, I would think that you aren't really aware of what HyperCard really is and can do! It's an excellent "alternative OS" for graphical access to databases with cross-links and programmed actions, that encourages vendors to provide useful "stacks" of information via CD-ROM and other mass media. It makes traditional ideas about database systems look sick. Spend a few hours under the guidance of a HyperCard guru and you'll probably be sold on the idea.
