I've had the same problem.  I thought I was able to identify the problem.
I have a 512KE at the office with a separate numeric keypad.  When the keypad
is attached, I invariably have the problem.  When the keypad is removed, I
USUALLY don't.  I've gotten used to it lately, so I hardly notice it any more.
