I have never used the installer application yet, and my systems are alive
and well. When I first noticed installer, (was it the upgrade to finder 1.1?)
it didn't come with any instructions, so I ignored it and copied all the
new system files into my disc the old fashoned way. Been doing it for
almost 4 years now and it hasen't failed me yet. i still don't trust installer
to replace my old system files (often customized) with the new (soon to be 
customized) system files.
