Help! Message-ID: <8712270234.AA21755@decwrl.dec.com> Date: 27 Dec 87 02:34:47 GMT Organization: Digital Equipment Corporation Lines: 48 Well, here it is a day after Christmas, and having eaten my fill of turkey (too many times) and played with my new toys, I felt it was finally time to get to that odious task I've been putting off for so many months: Cataloging that box of diskettes... So, I faithfully cranked up Micro Disk Cataloger (MDC II, V2.1b). All went well until I got JUST to the end of the box, at which time the program indicated that 'it didn't have enough memory to read that disk'. Experimentation indicated that even running without Multifinder on a 2 Meg. Mac II, it was apparently limited by something internal to the program, not by the system memory (I think it was written in Forth). WHAT A PAIN! I checked my friendly MacUser to see if there might be a later version of the program, but it didn't show MDC II in its "current version" nor Quick Clicks sections. So, my questions: o Is it a current product? If so, what is its current version and who can I contact (I can't find a number for New Cannon Microcode)? o Alternately, have any of you had good experience with a disk cataloger? Which ones? Were they limited in the number of diskettes they could keep track of? o Does anyone have any 'heavy' experience with "Disk Rngr", which came across the net recently? What are its limitations? Thanks, and WATCH OUT!
