Lately I've been seeing a bunch of these in this newsgroup and a couple of others. They are huge files, and nearly double the space a newsgroup occupies on disk. They also add measurably to the modem time. Does anyone out there know a simple, elegant way to eliminate them? Note that I'm not criticising the people who do them. I understand that there are machines that don't or can't run usenet, and there is a good use for such digests. I just don't want the original newsgroup and the digest both on my machine. My disk space is not unlimited. Perhaps we need a separate mechanism for distributing such summaries. Hey, I just thought of one: a separate, moderated newsgroup. Isn't that an original idea? Do you think we might implement it? {(:-)} -- John Chambers <{adelie,ima,maynard,mit-eddie}!minya!{jc,root}> (617/484-6393)
