Mass storage is getting cheaper much faster than even the BSD un*x's are getting bigger. Jerry is still in love with z80's, for crying in your beer! Of course he thinks everyone needs multiple cpu's. From what I've seen of his articles, if he had spent 1/2 the cash on one decent machine of the sun/3 (or equivalent, I'm not bigoted (much)) class as he has on umpteen-thousand tinkertoys, he'd be miles ahead.
