Nope. Neither a joke nor a mistake. A few months ago (about 95 days ago, to be precise) we converted the machine whose name is "decwrl.dec.com" into a gateway machine and disabled all user logins. People read news and mail on other machines. The machine I'm sending this message from, for example, is named "bacchus.dec.com", though almost everything in the message header looks like it came from "decwrl". I think you'll find that most large installations discourage or prohibit logins on their gateway machines. Brian
