False alarm. News software didn't break that. The person -- much like yourself (no slur meant!) who edits out the ">" preceeding included text to get around the line inclusion limits. If you look at 2447@hall.cray.com, you'll see that the poster did the same thing you did... CHanged ">" to "|". Unfortunately, it caught the ">" in the Reference line also (the first one). Proof??? Well, check the "In article ....." line -- text not header -- in the same message. The sender did something like: 1,$s/>/|/ Cancel BOGON ALERT. Fred
