Summary: root file system is gone, tape controller may be bad

I talked to Tim Pointing today and he says that dciem (the 11/70) has
been down due to various component failures and was on the way back up
when somebody accidentally wiped out dciem's root file system.
Unfortunately dciem doesn't have a backup root file system (on disk),
and their tape controller seems to be leaving off the last couple bytes
of some tape blocks, so they are unable to restore a working root file
system.

Tim didn't estimate when dciem will be back up.  I'll check with him
tomorrow.
