I took a position that would seem beyond reproach -- that promiscuous sex and IV drug abuse are really stupid things to do -- and I've gotten a lot of people really angry at me, calling me "ignorant", "stupid", "bigot". (But of course, just insults -- no attempts to argue that I'm incorrect on this subject -- a lot of emotions have clearly run away from the owners). Are there really people on the net that don't think it's incredibly stupid to have sex with people whose name you don't know? Even before AIDS became an issue, there were a lot of STDs floating around. If casual sex with strangers caused you to get an STD, wouldn't it be stupid to not have a way to inform that person they were carrying an STD? Of course, IV drug abuse is so obviously stupid, it requires no argument. (But this is USENET -- I'm sure someone will argue that shooting up heroin with dirty needles is perfectly rational, and I'm just a bigot for thinking it's stupid). As I've said before, promiscuous sex and IV drug abuse are like someone who smokes -- why should the rest of us have to pay for your incredible dumbness? Clayton E. Cramer
