I access the United States through a satellite net which terminates in Santa
Clara California. From there I dialout to the world through a Ven-Tel 212
Plus -II modem Version 2.20.............
  Most of the time it works very well, but whenever I or anyone else attempt to
download xmodemed files (or any error checking program) from ANY system the
modem hangs up. The time varies from day-to-day, but it always seems to hang up
It is a 1200 baud modem. One time I tried fooling it by logging in at 300 baud
and trying the upload. It worked 1 time - then the machine got smart the next .

This is very mdem's registers to disable the timeout....
Dores anyone have any knowledge of these machines?
  There is one other possibility . .. the Tymnet engine that we use could be do
in it.
