Those are usually multi-line modem handlers that for security call the caller back at a pre-set phone number before allowing access to a mainframe. For some reason, I don't see many ads for such equipment. If you use or know of such a system, please mail me information regarding manufacturer name & address, features, price, etc. Standard features should include number of lines in and out, baud rates allowable, type of modems supported, ethernet or other LAN, & special protocols supported.
