I have received the same suggestion from several people as well as
requests for the answer, so here it is.

To send a message to a distribution list without the whole list
showing up on everybody's copy,  use a construct like:

    To: abritrary-listname: listname;
or  To: arbitary-listname: <person>, <person>, <person> ...;

The recipients will not see the text between the colon and the semi-colon.
All they'll see is:

    To: arbitary-listname: ;

This is actally a RFC-822 requirement.
