Fortunately we do have rainbows. The question was "How can I format RX50K diskettes for my Microvax-I, perferrably on an IBMPC or compatible.". Now I know a PC with a high density drive could do it, but I did not want to get that deep into programming the controller. Many answers I received suggested using a Rainbow. I just happened to have access to such a machine and typing FORMAT A:/I, in my case, did the job. I did get an error message, but perhaps the hardware needed maintenance. I had to INIT the diskette and MOUNT it on the Microvax, and everything has been fine since. NOTE : I used a standard double sided/ double density diskette. A SHOW DEV/FULL revealed a capacity of 800 blocks. Thanx. Chris Tenaglia Astronautics Corporation of America 4115 N. Teutonia Avenue Milwaukee, Wi 53209 (414) 447-8200 X-450
