Message-ID: <328@metasoft.UUCP> Date: 7 Jan 88 18:12:59 GMT Organization: Meta Software Corporation, Cambridge MA Lines: 23 there seem to exist solutions for connecting ibm-pc's to a UNIX style machine via ethernet and telnet (NCSA's software marvel). however, due to certain constraints, we'd like to connect some ibm-pc's to our SUN via our existing appletalk network, which includes many macs, pc's and a kinetics box (for the appletalk to ethernet interface). the pc's and macs currently talk to each other via TOPS, and the macs talk to the sun via telnet. questions: 1- can the ibm-pc's be interfaced to the SUN via appletalk using the existing TOPS card? 2- is TOPS/SUN required? 3- can telnet for the pc be used, or is there other software which might be able to handle all this? please e-mail responses (to avoid traffic overflow). i'll post summary. thanks. -alan@metasoft.uucp [uunet!metasoft!uucp]
