I had the infamous //c-won't-work-with-my-modem problem. Apple will install a new motherboard free of charge (done at your local dealer) providing you show proof of purchase of a serial device, more than likely a modem. I am happy to say that I had the upgrade completed less than 24 hours after I found out the problem by trial and error. Never having heard of the bug (yes, I know) I had tried everything. I then remembered the modem worked at the dealer on a //c in the showroom. Bingo. Any //c owners should encounter no problem getting the upgrade.
