With the Drive 3.5 connected to the PCT it will format as a 720k MS-DOS disk. With it connected to the Smartport, it will still be formatted as 720k but will NOT be directly compatible with an IBM. It will only work on another Apple II with a PCT and 3.5" drive NOT connected to the PCT but connected with its own controller card. ps. You need to make sure that you have the PCT control panel set up for the 3.5" drive as an Apple Drive 3.5 (if it is conected to the PCT) and set up as a ProDOS drive when the 3.5" drive is connected via its own controller.
