Thanks to this notesfile, I found a copy of Kermit 3.80, got it to run on my apple, and thought I would be able to emulate a vt100, but couldn't figure out how to get the $%^&%&^$(*& thing to dial a number, in spite of (because of?) the documentation. Screen messages claim it is dialing, but by listening in through the telephone, I noticed that it never got rid of the dial tone, although there was a click and a slight lowering of the volume of the dial tone. I have an Apple IIe with a Hayes Micromodem IIe. I'm sure the disk was configured right. I think the problem is that I can't figure out how to use the program. If there's some kind soul out there who can give me any suggestion about what to try, I would be eternally endebted and also able to use the text editor, which would enable me to work at home. Thanks. Bill Mills ARPA: mills@silver.bacs.indiana.edu
