There must be some timing-dependent feature in the way in which this
program simulates a mono reboot and startup. I have tried it repeatedly
on one machine, finding that the only way to get it to work was to
_power down_ and then run the program. Reminds me of the "synch" funnies
with Spectrum 512.

Alternatively, perhaps there are lomem variables which must be reset
for this thing to work reliably; power-down accomplishes that.
