It does do wonders for the 1571. But. Wow. That's a lot of bucks. First, it is
a single 32k x 8 ROM (27256 EPROM, in the early 1571s like mine), it is NOT
ROMs (plural). Second, the list price on those things is $10. Or, at least
that's what my dealer sold me MINE for. It said so right on the Commodore
price-list that he consulted (or was that wholesale price? I wonder... but
even so, it shouldn't be over $20).

That customer service rep thought that you meant full-screen editing of the
memory buffer, obviously. That's a very big problem, dealing with poorly
trained reps who haven't the foggiest notion what they're saying. You need a
built-in BS-dectector, and you need the chutzpa to say "Since you obviously
don't know what you're talking about, put me on to someone who does". The
problem with Bobsterm Pro, as someone else mentioned, is that it is not
brain-dead like a real VT100 -- so some software has trouble dealing with it.
Using some other emulation & the wonders of termcap can solve that.
